- The current flagship steering paddle was designed by Conan Herbert.In designing Uru, he took many aspects from the previous Toroa, which has been the steering paddle of choice for most steerspeople in NZ for many years. Conan’s numerous years steering in NZ and internationally helped him fine tune his ideal steering paddleThe Toroa was/is a great all condition paddle for racing in NZ, though we always felt as it was slightly small to handle moderate sea conditions and sprint race turns. The Uru has more blade surface area and performs exactly as intended.All Steering blades come with steering grip applied.
